This weather station is located on the roof of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland at Linnanmaa, Oulu, Finland. The system contains some professional weather measurament instruments connected to a small Linux-based embedded computer. Here are the basic figures of the hardware used:

The environment is bare but nevertheless it has enough power to run Linux (including an IPv6 stack) and a Web server. On the other hand, because the system has no appropriate persistent storage, the database of the historical data has to be run on a separate computer.
